It is the holiday season. However, most research indicates that those who suffer from depression (or excessive anxiety) have a decrease of symptoms during this time.
If you do find yourself being more depressed than you are normally it is possible to relieve your symptoms. The first step to take is often the most difficult. You must be committed and decide that you will not just sit back thinking that it is the responsibility of others to do the work, for YOU.
Secondly I suggest that you don’t dwell on subjects that you are aware of as causing your depression.
Third, become active, do something, you don’t have to spend money. It is not important what you do, but it is important that you do something. It is easy for me to give many suggestions. However, if you make the decision on how you can become active you are likely to follow through. So to get you started with your thinking here are a few suggestions; clean (your house, yard, garage), volunteer work (dog pounds/dog rescue, local hospitals or schools), walk (morning, noon, evening), cook (try new and different recipes). It’s easy to think of activities you can enjoy.
If you take the above advise seriously and work at reducing your symptoms daily for two to three weeks, not one to two weeks, you will notice a positive reduction of symptoms. Keep in mind you have to make the commitment.
